The Pioneer T-6600 is an auto-reverse stereo reel tape deck manufactured between 1971 and 1973 in Japan. It features a sleek metal silver and black design with a walnut wooden case. Designed for versatility and high-quality audio recording, the unit consumes 75 watts of power and weighs approximately 13 kg. Its dimensions are 434 mm in width, 437 mm in height, and 182 mm in depth. The original price was around 350 US dollars in 1971, which is equivalent to about 1,400 Deutsche Mark. The T-6600 includes multiple input and output options, such as line inputs with a sensitivity of 30 mV and a resistance of 50 kOhm, as well as microphone inputs at 0.3 mV and 50 kOhm. For outputs, it offers line outputs at 775 mV and 50 kOhm. The device supports 4-track recording and playback, with a maximum reel diameter of 18 cm, driven by a 4-pole motor. It is capable of operating at two tape speeds: 9.5 cm/s and 19 cm/s, while exhibiting excellent synchronization stability with fluctuations of only 0.20% and 0.12% respectively. The overall frequency response ranges from 30Hz to 13kHz at 9.5 cm/s and up to 20kHz at 19 cm/s, complemented by a signal-to-noise ratio greater than 55 dB. Special features include automatic reverse functionality, two VU meters for monitoring, and a recording master controller, making it a robust choice for audio enthusiasts looking for reliable performance and sound quality.
