The BB5i is recognized as the flagship model among the three-way, high-resolution ATL™ reference monitors, revered in both professional circles and among audiophiles. It holds a unique place in audio history, being the first loudspeaker to inspire Stevie Wonder to dance during sessions in his Wonderland Studios. This is testament to its remarkable audio quality, achieved through an innovative combination of cutting-edge components.

The BB5i integrates the i series tweeter, the PMC 75 soft dome midrange driver, and a formidable 15-inch Radial™ bass driver. The large Advanced Transmission Line (ATL) enhances its performance, delivering a sound experience that is as dynamic as it is detailed. This impressive speaker is capable of handling the full spectrum of soundscapes—from grand, dynamic compositions to subtle acoustic tracks—with breathtaking agility and precision.

Core to its extraordinary performance is an internal 24 dB per octave precision crossover, meticulously hand-built to ensure superior sound quality. Each component on the crossover board is individually selected and strategically placed to maximize signal integrity and current delivery. The 15-inch Radial™ bass driver, akin in design to that of the MB2i, is crafted with superior power handling abilities and an expanded cone area, allowing for extensive range and sustained high output. Enhanced by an exposed exo-skeleton acting as a heat sink, this design keeps the system cool and enhances performance.

In keeping with PMC’s ethos of comprehensive sound experiences, the BB5i can be integrated into surround sound setups with matching horizontal center speakers (BB5-Ci) and subs (XB3). Additionally, custom-tuned stands are available across the i series range, uniting elegance with exceptional audio delivery. This commitment to detail and design excellence means the BB5i sets a standard no other passive loudspeaker matches in terms of sonic resolution and seemingly limitless headroom.
