Founded by Stewart Tyler, ProAc Limited began as Celef Audio in 1973, incorporating Celestion and KEF drive units before evolving into Professional Acoustics (ProAc) in 1979. Tyler's discovery of ATC's professional-grade bass and midrange drivers prompted the brand transformation, targeting higher-performance markets. Based at Highpoint House, Brackley, Northamptonshire, this family-run business hand-crafts each loudspeaker with technician-tested quality. Tyler's childhood sensitivity to sound and photographic aural recall, combined with his electronics and acoustics degree, drove 40+ years of boundary-pushing speaker design. Following Tyler's passing in July 2021, the ProAc family continues his legacy, celebrating 40 years in 2019. From early modifications at age twelve to becoming a globally renowned UK manufacturer, ProAc represents British precision in high-fidelity speaker engineering, maintaining artisanal production methods in an increasingly automated industry.
