The Quadral Vulkan Mk II is a three-way floorstanding speaker that was produced between 1983 and 1986 in Hanover, Germany. It features a transmission line design, which is known for enhancing bass response and delivering a smoother frequency response. The speaker is equipped with one 260 mm woofer with a coated foam surround, a 120 mm midrange driver coated with a fabric surround, and a ribbon tweeter based on the Technics TH-400 magnetostat technology. The Vulkan Mk II has a power handling capacity of 150 watts nominal and 250 watts music power handling. Its efficiency is rated at a sound pressure level of dB/1 W/1 m with a damping factor of 100. The frequency response ranges from 20 Hz to 50,000 Hz (±2 dB), with crossover frequencies set at 400 Hz for the midrange and 4,000 Hz for the tweeter. Designed with 8 Ohm impedance, this speaker offers a substantial weight of 55 kg per box and dimensions of 1160 x 400 x 390 mm (HxWxD). It is available in various finishes including real wood walnut antique, oak rustic, mahogany, oak black, and oak natural. The original price was approximately DM a pair in 1983, making it a significant investment for audio enthusiasts at the time. The Vulkan Mk II was succeeded by the Vulkan Mk III and followed later by additional models up to the Vulkan Mk VII.
