Founded in 2007 by radio engineer Vidmantas Triukas in Kaunas, Lithuania, Reed specializes in hi-end tonearm and turntable research and development. Triukas, who has been working in hi-fi audio since 1985 and studied art history in St. Petersburg (1980-1982), has specialized in scientific acoustic and ultrasound research with three patented inventions in acoustic noise transmission. His early achievement came in 1987 when he presented an innovative audio set at USSR's largest technical achievement trade show in Moscow, earning a bronze medal for groundbreaking features like turntable motor speed control. After years of passion for audio technology, in 2007 he decided to start his business, spending a year on continuous research, prototyping, design, and testing before offering the first Reed series tonearm in 2008. Operating as Tonearms.lt UAB from their facility in Uzliedziu, Kauno region, this small company of 5 employees creates high-end tonearms and turntables using newest manufacturing technologies and best materials, often incorporating wood materials in innovative designs. Reed products are immediately acclaimed for innovation, build quality, and exceptional sonics, distributed internationally across Australia, Netherlands, Bulgaria, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, and other markets.
