The Spendor SP1/R² is a prominent model within the Classic Series range that bridges modern engineering with classic design principles. With a decade-spanning history, this speaker showcases Spendor's commitment to high-quality sound reproduction. The SP1/R² features an advanced 21cm (8 inch) bass-mid driver made from a new ep38 polymer cone, which utilizes phase correction technology to improve frequency response and coherence between drive units. A newly developed 22mm wide-surround tweeter complements the bass-mid driver, offering a stable low-distortion response across a wide frequency range. Significant improvements have been made to the cabinet design, including a redesigned front baffle that enhances rigidity and side-panel damping, leading to better low-frequency resolution and a cleaner upper mid-range. This model is celebrated for its ability to produce a smooth and sweet sound signature, which is consistent across the audio spectrum. Enhanced thermal dissipation in the drivers ensures that sound remains open and relaxed, even at higher listening levels, contributing to a more holographic soundstage.
