Founded by audio industry veterans as the hi-fi division of renowned professional audio companies MC² Audio and XTA Electronics, Ultrafide Audio is a British audio manufacturer based in Honiton, Devon, dedicated to bringing the intimacy of studio recordings and the energy of live performances to home audio systems. Built upon decades of sonic pedigree from parent companies that have been pioneers in the pro audio market since the 1990s, with products installed in top studios and live venues worldwide from Air Studios to NASA and Glastonbury's main stage, Ultrafide was created to make exceptional audio accessible through over-engineered products focused solely on sonic quality. Under the leadership of lead engineer Alex Cooper, an audio industry legend and former Klark Teknik designer who previously designed the legendary MC2 Audio DELTA series, XTA Electronic's notable MX36 console switch, and custom guitar amplifiers for Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin), Pete Townsend (The Who), and Micky Moody (Whitesnake), the company operates with the philosophy "We want you to listen to the music, not the equipment!" The team includes General Manager Robert Bradshaw-Smith (jazz fanatic), Technical Directors John Austin and Terry Clarke (with Terry having designed tape machines for the BBC and digital delay devices for Mark Knopfler), Product Specialist Mark Bailey, and Production Manager Alex Skidmore. Located at Units 6-8 Kingsgate, Heathpark Industrial Estate in Honiton, Devon, all products are designed and manufactured in the UK with Cooper given complete creative freedom to over-engineer solutions focused on audio quality, sonic purity, and unrivalled stereo imaging. The company's product lineup includes the Ultra Sigma Combo featuring the U4PRE preamplifier and U500DC power amplifier launched across 2023-2024, and the new DIAS Series high-power class AB amplifiers described as "true masterpieces of sonic engineering."
