ZELLATON GmbH is a legendary German high-end loudspeaker manufacturer with over 90 years of heritage (founded in the 1930s), representing the benchmark for lifelike music reproduction and often called 'the Patek Philippe of high-end speakers.' Founded by Dr. Emil Podszus who obtained his first speaker driver patent in 1930 and filed revolutionary patents for mechanically damped diaphragms in 1931, the company remains a true family business now led by third-generation Manuel Podszus (Research & Development) and co-managing director Michael Schwab, operating from Am Moosfeld 17, 81829 Munich, Germany. ZELLATON's unique technology centers on proprietary multi-component hard foam diaphragms invented by Dr. Emil Podszus and further evolved by Manuel Podszus, featuring three-layer membranes manufactured through elaborate manual work involving weeks of hand-crafting, oven baking at specific temperatures, and cooling cycles. The manufacturing process is comparable to creating high-quality musical instruments, with drivers essentially 'grown' by Manuel over several weeks and rejection rates remaining very high, making these sonic wonders exceptionally scarce. ZELLATON speakers operate in the critical 100Hz-8000Hz frequency band without full-range crossover components, with tweeters weighing only 0.18 grams and diaphragms just 0.006mm thick. Their product lines include the ULTRA Series, EVO Series (including the six-year development Plural Evo), and KLASSIK Series (Legacy, Stage, Reference, Statement), all handmade in Germany with unprecedented attention to detail.
