Founded in 2011 by Zach Mehrbach, ZMF Headphones emerged from a dining-room table operation where Zach began modifying Fostex T50RP headphones while completing graduate school, transforming his passion for acoustic instruments and film into a renowned boutique headphone company. Originally standing for 'Zach Mehrbach Films' reflecting his filmmaking background, ZMF evolved as Zach applied his expertise from teaching film and building acoustic guitars to create heirloom-quality wooden headphones. Operating from a workshop just outside Chicago, Illinois, with corporate offices in Lyme, New Hampshire, the husband-and-wife team of Zach and Bevin Mehrbach has built a 13-employee company specializing in handcrafted orthodynamic headphones using premium kiln-dried hardwoods rather than veneers. Led by Zach as founder, president, and lead designer, with Bevin serving as co-founder handling HR, PR, and quality control, ZMF has established itself as a leader in the high-end audio market since Zach transitioned to full-time operations in 2017.
