The company revolutionized affordable digital recording with the ADAT 8-track digital recorder in 1991, transforming studio recording from $150,000 Sony systems to accessible $3,995 units. Alesis introduced groundbreaking products like the XT Reverb (1985) at $799, QuadraSynth synthesizer, D4 and DM5 drum modules, and Monitor One studio monitors. After filing Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2001, the company was acquired by Numark Industries, then by inMusic Brands in 2012.
