The Audio-Technica AT-20SS is a phono cartridge known for its exceptional audio reproduction capabilities. It features a dual moving magnet (MM) design and is capable of a wide frequency response range from 5 Hz to 50 kHz, with a more precise response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz maintained within +/- 1dB. The cartridge is designed with a nude Super Shibata diamond stylus, affixed to a tapered Beryllium cantilever, which contributes to its accurate tracking and sound fidelity. With a recommended tracking force of 0.75 to 1.75 grams, it ensures that vinyl records are played without damaging grooves. Its output voltage is 2.7 mV at a 1 kHz frequency, and it maintains a channel separation of 35 dB at 1 kHz and 30 dB at 10 kHz. The cartridge's construction includes a coil DC resistance of 500 ohms and coil inductance of 450 mH at 1 kHz. With a weight of 8.0 grams and a recommended load impedance of 47k ohms, it was designed for audiophiles seeking high-quality sound. The AT-20SS has been discontinued but remains a sought-after option for vintage audio setups.
