GamuT Audio is a prestigious Danish high-end audio manufacturer with origins dating back 30 years to Denmark's professional studio industry, initially designed by Ole Lund Kristensen in the early 1980s. Now owned by Dantax A/S (Copenhagen Stock Exchange listed since 1984), GamuT joined fellow Danish brands Raidho and Scansonic in January 2018 under the Dantax umbrella. Operating from Siggårdsvej 2, 6818 Årre, Denmark, and led by former CEO/chief designer Benno Baun Meldgaard (known as 'the best ears in the business' and 'the speaker whisperer'), the company specializes in handcrafted speakers and award-winning amplifiers. GamuT's three speaker lines include the flagship RS Series (utilizing proprietary Scanspeak drivers designed by the same engineer who creates GamuT speakers), M'inent Series, and affordable Phi Mk2 Series, all featuring handcrafted bodies made by luxury furniture manufacturer Kvist Industries using 21 layers of ash and birch wood. Their D3i/D200i amplifiers earned five-star ratings from What Hi-Fi, while speakers like the RS3 and RS7 received Editor's Choice awards and Stereophile cover features. The company maintains environmental consciousness using locally-sourced natural materials and operates as 'as green a manufacturer as possible.' GamuT also produces the innovative Lobster Chair, the first high-end listening chair designed to minimize acoustic reflections.
