Linn Products Limited was founded in 1972 by Ivor Tiefenbrun in Glasgow, Scotland, revolutionizing the hi-fi industry with the iconic Sondek LP12 turntable. Tiefenbrun challenged conventional audio wisdom by proving that the turntable was the most critical component in a hi-fi system, not the speakers as previously believed. The LP12, introduced in 1973, features a suspended sub-chassis design with a patented single-point bearing and modular upgradability that allows every component to be enhanced over time. This 'upgradability' philosophy created extraordinary customer loyalty and enabled the LP12 to remain in continuous production for over 50 years. From 2007, Linn pioneered digital music streaming over home networks, becoming one of the first manufacturers to support 24-bit/192kHz studio master quality recordings. Today, the company operates from a Richard Rogers-designed factory between Waterfoot and Eaglesham, maintaining its position as an independent family business in its sixth decade of crafting world-class music systems entirely by hand in Scotland.
