The NAD 5170 is a multi-disc CD changer that was produced between 1988 and 1992. Its design features a six-disc magazine system that allows for automatic playback, alongside a single-disc drawer for added flexibility. Users can switch between single and multiple disc play without needing to load a disc into a magazine. Equipped with a quadruple-oversampling 16-bit digital filter and a mild four-pole analog filter, the NAD 5170 aims to eliminate higher ultrasonic frequencies from audio outputs. It uniquely offers a Controlled Dynamic Range (CDR) circuit that compresses dynamic range for recording purposes and improves listening experiences in variable environments. With programming capabilities for up to 32 tracks over the seven discs, users can create custom playlists and repeat selections as desired. It also includes a wireless remote control for ease of use, giving access to nearly all front-panel controls and additional features. The unit has both fixed and variable analog output jacks, along with a coaxial digital output for external converters.
