3 March 2025 by Mike Danyk

Audiolab has unveiled the 6000A MkII, an enhanced version of its renowned integrated amplifier. Building on the successful Class AB architecture and a sturdy toroidal transformer foundation, the MkII model introduces significant upgrades aimed at elevating both performance and connectivity. Enthusiasts can expect a seamless blend of tradition and innovation in this latest iteration.

At the heart of the 6000A MkII lies a robust 200VA toroidal transformer, supported by four 15,000µF smoothing capacitors. This power supply configuration ensures consistent and dynamic audio reproduction across various listening environments. The amplifier delivers 50 watts per channel at 8 ohms and 75 watts at 4 ohms, maintaining excellent linearity and thermal stability inherent to Class AB designs. Additionally, the MkII offers versatile operating modes, functioning as an integrated amplifier, a preamplifier with an external power amp, or solely as a power amplifier paired with an external preamp.

Connectivity has been significantly enhanced in the MkII model. The inclusion of an HDMI ARC input facilitates effortless integration into modern audio-visual setups, allowing users to enjoy high-fidelity sound from their favorite media devices. Bluetooth 5.1 aptX HD support ensures high-quality wireless streaming from smartphones and tablets, while the four digital and four analogue RCA connections provide extensive flexibility for connecting various audio sources.

The 6000A MkII is equipped with the ESS Sabre ES9038Q2M DAC chip, delivering superior digital signal processing with support for 32-bit/768kHz PCM. The implementation of HyperStream II architecture minimizes conversion errors and signal degradation, while the Time Domain Jitter Eliminator enhances audio clarity by reducing jitter. These advancements ensure that the MkII meets the high standards expected by discerning audiophiles.

Set to be available in mid-March, the Audiolab 6000A MkII is priced at approximately $900. This updated integrated amplifier not only reinforces Audiolab’s commitment to quality and performance but also provides audiophiles with a versatile and technically advanced component for their audio systems.
