DTSeries In-Ear Monitors by Beyerdynamic Set New Standards for Professionals

23 January 2025 by Mike Danyk

Beyerdynamic unveiled its latest innovation, the DT-Series In-Ear Monitors, at the NAMM Show 2025 in California. Crafted specifically for both stage and studio environments, these four models cater to diverse monitoring needs, including mixing, critical listening, and instrument-specific monitoring for drums, bass, guitar, vocals, classical instruments, and keyboards.

Developed in close collaboration with renowned musicians and sound engineers, the DT-Series benefits from the expertise of the Martin Miller Session Band and 4-time Grammy winner Cory Henry. This partnership underscores the series' commitment to meeting the rigorous demands of live performances and studio sessions. The functional design of the monitors emphasizes durability and practicality, making them reliable tools for professional use.

Manufactured by hand in Heilbronn, Germany, each In-Ear Monitor features Beyerdynamic’s proprietary TESLA.11 driver technology. These drivers deliver exceptional clarity with an ultra-low distortion rate of just 0.02% at 1 kHz and can handle a maximum sound pressure level of up to 137 dB, positioning the DT-Series among the loudest IEMs available. Additionally, the monitors provide impressive sound isolation of up to -39 dB, ensuring minimal external interference even on high-SPL stages.

The DT-Series comprises four distinct models, each with a unique sound signature tailored to specific applications:

  • DT 70 IE – Mixing and Critical Listening: Offers a balanced sound profile ideal for live sound engineers and studio applications, while also suiting discerning listeners seeking high-fidelity audio on the go.
  • DT 71 IE – Drums and Bass: Features a robust low-frequency foundation, subdued midrange, and enhanced treble, making it perfect for drummers and bassists who require detailed and powerful sound reproduction.
  • DT 72 IE – Guitar and Vocals: Enhances upper midrange frequencies to ensure that guitar and vocal tracks stand out clearly within a mix, providing precision and clarity for performers.
  • DT 73 IE – Classical Instruments and Keyboards: Delivers a highly linear response in the bass and midrange (20Hz to 1 kHz) with a slight boost in the high frequencies above 5 kHz, ideal for monitoring orchestral instruments and keyboards with transparency.

Each monitor comes with a Kevlar-reinforced cable featuring a gold-plated MMXCX connector, offering a more secure and stable connection compared to traditional 2-pin connectors. The models, except for the DT 71 IE, are IP68 certified, making them resistant to water and dust ingress up to a depth of 1.5 meters for 30 minutes. The DT 71 IE holds an IP65 rating, ensuring durability in demanding environments.

The DT-Series In-Ear Monitors are accompanied by a robust carrying case, multiple ear tips for an optimal fit, and additional accessories to support professional use. Priced at approximately €499.00, the monitors are set to become available in March through Beyerdynamic’s online store, Amazon, and selected retailers.

With their meticulous handcrafting, advanced driver technology, and specialized sound tuning, the Beyerdynamic DT-Series In-Ear Monitors are poised to become essential tools for musicians and audio professionals seeking uncompromised sound quality and reliability.
