Luxman E-07: Celebrating 100 Years of Audio Excellence
Luxman commemorates its centennial with the introduction of the E-07 phono pre-amplifier, a testament to a hundred years of audio excellence. This new mid-tier MM/MC preamp integrates cutting-edge technology with exceptional ease of use, delivering outstanding audio quality that resonates with audiophiles seeking both performance and reliability.
The E-07 features three input sets on the back panel, including balanced XLR inputs tailored for MC cartridges, alongside 2 x RCA and 1 x XLR analogue outputs. A fully-balanced and dual mono circuit architecture ensures maximum channel separation and detailed sound reproduction. The separation of MM and MC circuits is achieved through a combination of back-panel DIP switches and a front-panel rotary knob, allowing precise adjustments for impedance and capacitance loading. Specifically, users can select MC load impedance options ranging from 4.7Ω to 1kΩ and MM load impedances between 34kΩ and 100kΩ, with capacitance adjustments available at 0, 100, 220, and 320 pF.
Technically, the E-07 employs a first amplifier stage composed of four parallel-connected field-effect transistors (FETs) in an unbalanced configuration. This design significantly enhances sound quality by minimizing noise and ensuring maximum signal purity. Additionally, the pre-amplifier is equipped with Luxman’s triple transformer power supply system, dedicating one transformer per phono input. This setup, combined with an electrically-shielded and vibration-optimized aluminium housing, creates an ideal power environment that maintains signal integrity across all channels.
The E-07 stands out with its newly developed step-up transformer for MC cartridges, utilizing a super permalloy core that offers a high small-signal response. This transformer includes two independent units per channel and supports Low/High gain settings, enabling optimal performance based on the selected impedance group. The inclusion of balanced inputs allows for differential signal reception from MC cartridges without energy loss, enhancing stereo separation and image localization for a more immersive listening experience.
