Luxman P-100C Centennial Headphone Amplifier: A Tribute to 100 Years of Excellence
Luxman celebrates a century in the hi-fi industry by introducing the P-100C headphone amplifier, the inaugural product of its new Centennial series. Crafted entirely by hand in Luxman's Yokohama manufactory, the P-100C embodies a blend of cutting-edge technology and meticulous component quality, reflecting Luxman's longstanding commitment to audio excellence.
At the heart of the P-100C lies the newly developed LIFES (Luxman Integrated Feedback Engine System), an advancement over the previous ODNF technology. Enhanced with high-performance FETs and premium components, LIFES reduces distortion by half and improves the signal-to-noise ratio by over 3 dB. This results in a sound that maintains the natural vibrancy of the music signal while delivering a remarkably clear and dynamic audio experience.
The amplifier also features the innovative LECUA-EX volume control, developed through over two decades of research. This high-precision, solid-state system allows for ultra-fine adjustments with 200 steps of 0.5 dB each, ensuring unparalleled sound purity even at low volumes. Additionally, the LECUA-EX offers a three-stage sensitivity switch and an LR balance function, accommodating a wide range of headphones. A large 7-segment LED display provides precise and repeatable volume adjustments, catering to the discerning audiophile.
Flexibility is a key aspect of the P-100C, which includes four balanced XLR outputs and one single-ended RCA set on the rear, along with four headphone sockets on the front: 6.4mm, 4.4mm balanced, XLR balanced, and XLR BTL balanced. The amplifier employs four discrete LIFES-centered circuits, allowing operation in multiple modes such as Balanced Output (BTL connection), Unbalanced Output (Parallel operation), Parallel Unbalanced Mode, and Parallel BTL Balanced Mode with two devices. This versatility ensures optimal performance across various headphone configurations.
Encased in a low-resonance design that suppresses electromagnetic interference, the P-100C is powered by separate transformers for each amplifier pathway and control circuits. Eight large capacitors provide a stable and independent power supply for each channel, while low-loss speaker relays and OFC cabling enhance signal integrity. Priced at €12,990, the Luxman P-100C is available through authorized dealers, offering audiophiles a statement piece that honors Luxman's rich heritage with state-of-the-art engineering.
