Lyngdorf Audio Unveils New In-Wall & In-Ceiling Speakers at ISE Barcelona

I remember when I first stumbled upon Lyngdorf Audio's gear—I was blown away by their attention to detail and commitment to high-fidelity sound. Now, they're back at it again, set to unveil some exciting new in-wall and in-ceiling speakers at the upcoming Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) exhibition in Barcelona.

Lyngdorf is introducing the D-6 in-wall speaker and the DW-10 in-wall subwoofer, expanding their Discreet series. They've also got the BWS-210 subwoofer, developed by their subsidiary Steinway & Sons, all of which aim to deliver top-notch sound quality while keeping a minimalist aesthetic for custom installations. We can expect these new additions to start shipping by the end of March.

The D-6 is positioned as an in-wall alternative to your traditional two-way bookshelf speaker. From what I've gathered, it promises balanced and natural sound, fitting seamlessly into various interior styles. Unlike some of their other in-wall models, the D-6 has a lightweight design without an MDF enclosure. This means it's ideal for mounting in thinner walls where installation depth is limited. Despite this, Lyngdorf assures that the sound quality remains exceptional, thanks to high-quality drivers mounted on a low-resonance MDF panel.

Digging into the specs, the D-6 is equipped with a 6.5-inch aluminum cone mid/woofer and a soft dome tweeter. It boasts a sensitivity of 89 dB and a nominal impedance of 6 Ohms. This should make it pretty friendly with most amplifiers, while still being capable of delivering high sound pressure levels.

On the low-end side, the DW-10 is an in-wall subwoofer designed for setups where you need outstanding bass performance without sacrificing space. Building on the success of last year's DW-1, the DW-10 features a deeper enclosure housing two 10-inch low-frequency drivers, meant for installation in 6-inch wall cavities.

The DW-10 uses two patented flat drivers with a four-layer voice coil, a neodymium magnet system, and a rigid dual aluminum cone. They're working in a sealed enclosure, which enhances resonance control. This makes the sub suitable for dedicated home theaters, media rooms, or any installation where freestanding subs aren't an option.

Then there's the BWS-210, or Boundary Woofer Shallow, an in-wall bass module designed to complement Steinway & Sons acoustic systems. With two powerful 10-inch bass drivers, it delivers deep, dynamic bass in an ultra-thin enclosure. The drivers feature a four-layer voice coil, a rigid dual aluminum cone, a potent neodymium magnet, and a sturdy cast aluminum basket. All this technology combines to produce impressive bass that aligns with the signature sound quality of Steinway & Sons systems.

What's cool about the BWS-210 is that it's part of Steinway Lyngdorf's integrated system approach. This ensures seamless interaction between speakers, bass modules, digital amplifiers, and processors. Plus, with their RoomPerfect technology, the system calibrates the sound of the speakers and subs to match the room's acoustics. The advanced bass management optimizes sound integration of the system components, delivering the best possible audio quality in any setup.
