Shanling has introduced the Onix Zenith XST20, a premium SACD transport that brings true DSD quality to discerning audiophiles. Engineered under the Onix sub-brand, the Zenith XST20 allows playback of SACD discs in their native DSD format, provided the external DAC supports DSD capabilities. This transport emphasizes pure, lossless audio without the complexities of streaming or wireless setups.
The Zenith XST20 features a top-loading design with a large glass disc functioning as both puck and lid, ensuring optimal disc handling. On the rear panel, it offers six digital outputs: I2S, coaxial, BNC, AES/EBU, TOSLINK, and USB. The I2S port stands out by providing native DSD64 output, while the other connections utilize DSD64 DoP or D2P protocols. It’s important to note that the USB output is limited to PCM playback at 44.1kHz and does not support SACD.
Supporting single- and multi-layer SACDs, standard CDs, and MQA-CDs, the Zenith XST20 ensures smooth, gapless playback across various formats. The transport is equipped with an FPGA-assisted I2S output, offering ten different pin-out configurations to maximize compatibility with a wide range of I2S DACs. Users can easily manage these settings through a 3.4-inch touchscreen on the front panel, enhancing the overall user experience.
Constructed with a robust aluminium body and refined with CNC machining, the Zenith XST20 exemplifies Shanling’s commitment to high-end audio craftsmanship. Priced at $2,299 USD in the USA and $2,099 USD internationally, the Zenith XST20 is slated for shipping in April 2025. This release marks the start of a new product line, which will soon include a matching DAC and a Linux-based streaming transport, catering to the high-end market’s demand for superior audio performance.
For those seeking a dedicated transport solution, the Onix Zenith XST20 offers a sophisticated option to harness the full potential of SACD and CD formats, seamlessly integrating with advanced DAC systems to deliver an exceptional listening experience.
