Sony to Release Next-Gen WH-1000XM6 Wireless Headphones
The buzz in the audiophile community is real: Sony might be gearing up to release the WH-1000XM6, the next in their line of acclaimed wireless over-ear headphones with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC). An FCC filing has surfaced, pointing to the imminent arrival of this anticipated successor, although Sony hasn't made any official announcements yet.
For those who've held the WH-1000XM5 in high regard—often touted as the gold standard for ANC headphones—the prospect of an XM6 is exciting. The FCC listing reveals a new model number, YY2984, which progresses from the XM5's YY2954, hinting at some significant updates.
One of the standout potential features is a redesign of the ear cups and hinge mechanism. There's talk about removable ear cushions, a first for the series. This move towards a modular design could make replacing worn-out cushions a breeze, potentially extending the headphones' lifespan.
