Redesigned power supply delivers double the output current, improving performance and reliability.
Innovative transistor balancing ensures stable amplification with robust 240W output at 2.7Ω.
Copper radiators enhance thermal management and electrical efficiency while reducing footprint.
Soulnote has unveiled the new M-3X monoblock power amplifier, marking a significant advancement from its predecessor, the M-3. Released on April 1st in Japan, the M-3X features a redesigned power supply with double the output current, enhancing both performance and reliability. Available in Premium Silver and Premium Black finishes, the amplifier is priced at 1,911,800 yen (~1,650,000 RUB).
At the heart of the M-3X lies a novel transistor balancing scheme that meticulously aligns the current amplification factors (hfe) of its transistors. This innovative pairing method ensures stability and consistency in amplification, even as transistor currents fluctuate during playback. The output stage employs a pair of TO3 transistors in a four-stage Darlington configuration, effectively delivering a robust 240W maximum output at 2.7Ω. Additionally, the use of copper radiators not only reduces the unit's footprint but also serves as the power bus bar, enhancing thermal management and electrical performance.
Technical enhancements extend to the power supply filter, which incorporates high-quality foil capacitors with a capacitance of 470µF each. This design supports an impressive frequency response range from 2 Hz to 200 kHz, with total harmonic distortion capped at 0.1%. The M-3X’s gain is set at 22 dB, ensuring precise signal amplification without introducing unwanted artifacts. The compact dimensions of 340 x 512 x 251 mm and a weight of 31 kg reflect Soulnote’s commitment to combining power with a streamlined form factor.
The M-3X also boasts a minimalist front panel, featuring only essential input and speaker terminals, along with a power switch. This single-function design eliminates unnecessary components, focusing on delivering pure, unadulterated sound. The power transformer is uniquely mounted to minimize vibration transmission, further refining the amplifier's sonic clarity. With its meticulous engineering and high-grade components, the Soulnote M-3X stands out as a top-tier choice for audiophiles seeking uncompromised audio fidelity.
