SVS 5000 R|Evolution Series Subwoofers Unveiled
SVS has unveiled its latest 5000 R|Evolution Series, introducing two new 15-inch powered subwoofers: the SB-5000 R|Evolution sealed model and the PB-5000 R|Evolution ported model. Each unit delivers an impressive 2,000 Watts RMS power and can reproduce bass frequencies as low as 13Hz, promising an immersive audio experience that brings movie nights to life.
Both subwoofers feature SVS's proprietary 15-inch driver equipped with a dual edge-wound voice coil and a robust 38lb toroidal ferrite magnet motor. This design ensures stable electromagnetic current transfer and precise control, while the copper-clad aluminum voice coil wiring enhances thermal capacity and magnetic field strength. The sealed SB-5000 offers a frequency response of 17Hz to 280Hz, whereas the ported PB-5000 extends down to 13Hz in extended mode.
Powering these drivers is the newly introduced STA-2000D Class D dual monoblock amplifier, capable of delivering over 5,000 watts peak power. The amplifier's eight 60-amp 200-volt MOSFETs provide near-limitless power, maintaining efficiency and ensuring that demanding audio content is handled with ease. Additionally, an onboard AC line conditioner stabilizes incoming voltage and minimizes interference, safeguarding performance integrity.
The 5000 R|Evolution series is enhanced by a 295MHz Analog Devices DSP, which manages in-room frequency response and thermal monitoring for optimal performance. Users can fine-tune their subwoofers through the SVS smartphone app, offering controls over volume, low-pass filters, phase, and parametric equalizers. An upcoming Auto EQ feature will further streamline setup by adjusting equalization based on room acoustics.
Priced $500 below SVS's flagship 17-inch Ultra R|Evolution subwoofers, the new 5000 series offers a compelling option for audiophiles seeking high-performance bass without the larger footprint. Available in Premium Black Ash and Piano Gloss Black finishes, these subwoofers set a new standard in home audio, merging advanced technology with refined sonic delivery.
