Royd Audio (formerly Royd Loudspeakers Co. Ltd.) was a British Hi-Fi speaker manufacturer founded in 1980 by Joe Akroyd in Telford, Shropshire, England. Akroyd previously worked at Goodmans (1960s), Wharfedale (1970s), and Decca before establishing Royd. Known for hand-built speakers using British materials, famous models included the Minstrel, Sorcerer, Sintra, and Prior. The original company closed in 2004 when Joe Akroyd retired. The brand was revived by industrial designer Adam Norbury (based near Oxford) who acquired the trademark and plans to produce new loudspeakers sympathetic to Akroyd's original vision while bringing the brand into the modern era. Production originally ran from 1980-2004, with revival beginning in the 2020s.
