The Sansui B-2102 is a stereo power amplifier that emphasizes simplicity and efficiency in its design. It utilizes a diamond differential circuit, featuring a FET cascade at the first stage, to minimize impedance discrepancies between connected devices, thus ensuring stable operation. The output stage employs MOS FET technology, which contributes to superior frequency and transient response characteristics. A balanced power supply configuration is implemented, which maintains circuit independence from ground noise. Notable features include custom-crafted heavy-duty transformers, audio-specific electrolytic capacitors, and fast recovery diodes, all specifically developed for the B-2102 to enhance performance. The amplifier incorporates a detent volume control that effectively reduces contact resistance, preventing sound quality degradation. The volume control is interlocked with a clutch mechanism for precise adjustment. The design employs a twin monaural construction to eliminate mutual interference among amplifier blocks and minimizes connection lengths to the power supply. The exterior consists of a robust 6 mm thick aluminum front panel and an 8 mm thick side panel designed to absorb unwanted sound reflections. Internal components are housed within a double chassis framework made of pure copper and copper plating, further insulated to eliminate both internal and external vibrations. The B-2102 specifications include an effective output of 150W per channel at 6 Ω, with a total harmonic distortion rate of 0.008% or less, and an impressive frequency response spanning from DC to 300 kHz. The amplifier supports a load impedance of 4 Ω to 16 Ω and consumes 350W of power, built within dimensions of 450 mm x 176 mm x 477 mm and weighing 35 kg.
