The Technics SU-8088 is an integrated amplifier that was manufactured from 1978 to 1980 in Japan. It is available in two color variations: silver (SU-8088) and brown (SU-8088 K). The amplifier features a robust design, with the ability to output 80 watts per channel at 8 Ohms and 90 watts at 4 Ohms. It employs a straight DC method for true waveform transmission, making it capable of reproducing a broad frequency range from direct current to the audible spectrum. The dynamic power capabilities are designed for both high performance and low distortion, achieving a total harmonic distortion rate of only 0.01% over a frequency range of 20 Hz to 20 kHz. The amplifier's specifications include a power bandwidth from 5 Hz to 60 kHz at -3 dB and a signal-to-noise ratio of 110 dB. The SU-8088 also incorporates a comprehensive tone control system, allowing adjustments for bass and treble, as well as high and low filters. Connectivity options include multiple phono inputs for both MM and MC cartridges, tuner, AUX, and tape connections, along with preamp output and dual tape outputs. The unit has dimensions of 450 x 142 x 360 mm and weighs approximately 15 kg. During its initial release, it was priced around 1,500 DM, which positioned it as a mid-range amplifier offering advanced features and performance for audiophiles.
