The Technics SU-C 01 is a preamplifier that was manufactured between 1979 and 1981 in Japan. It is available in two finishes: silver for the SU-C 01 model and black for the SU-C 01 K variant. This preamplifier does not include remote control functionality and has a power consumption of 9 W. The unit's dimensions are 297 mm in width, 49 mm in height, and 255 mm in depth, with a total weight of 3.2 kg. At the time of its release, the original price was approximately 600 DM. 

The SU-C 01 provides a variety of connections, including two inputs for Phono MM (2.5 mV / 47 kOhm) and one for Phono MC (100 µV / 47 Ohm). There's also a tuner/aux input (150 mV / 47 kOhm) and a Tape In connection (150 mV / 47 kOhm). In terms of outputs, it features a Tape Out (150 mV) and a Pre Out (1 V). 

In terms of audio performance, the frequency response for Phono follows the RIAA standard with ±0.2 dB accuracy, while the Tuner/Aux has a range of 3 - 100,000 Hz (-1 dB) and 20 - 20,000 Hz (+0/-0.05 dB). The distortion factor of the SU-C 01 is rated at 0.003%, and it boasts a signal-to-noise ratio for Phono MM of 88 dB and for Tuner/Aux at 100 dB. 

The tone control features include a bass control at 50 Hz with ±10 dB adjustment, a treble control at 20 kHz with a similar adjustment, and a loudness function. It also includes high and low filters, with the high filter set at 7 kHz with a cut-off of -6 dB/oct. and a low (subsonic) filter at 30 Hz with a -12 dB/oct. cut-off. The preamplifier also includes a dedicated input for MC pickup.
