Founded in 1978 by David Lyth, Volt Loudspeakers emerged to design and produce exceptionally linear bass loudspeakers in the UK. Lyth, who earned an MSc in Applied Acoustics from London University specializing in servo-controlled loudspeaker systems, previously worked at Jordan Watts, Gale Electronics as QC manager, and Martin Audio as Technical Lead before establishing Volt. Initial production began in the Jordan-Watts premises in Hayes, London, before moving to the fourth floor of the original EMI factory. In 2007, Volt relocated from London to rural premises near Chesil Beach in Dorset. In 2013, David passed management to his daughter Cat and her husband Steve, continuing as Technical Consultant. Volt specializes in bass drivers with symmetrical field magnet systems and their patented Radial Technology, developed by Lyth. Their drivers feature long coils ensuring consistent linear performance and double rear suspensions guaranteeing transient stability at high drive levels. Notable clients include PMC, who use Volt Radial loudspeakers in their iconic BB5'S studio speakers and MB2Ses. Volt has expanded beyond bass to build midrange domes and maintains its reputation for Britain's finest and most innovative loudspeakers.
