Founded in 1995 in Prešov, Slovakia, CANOR began as a vacuum tube specialist when they showcased their first integrated tube amplifier (TP101) at an exhibition in Brno, Czech Republic in April 1995, initially under the brand name Edgar. Over three decades, the company has grown from startup to a major manufacturer with 80+ employees operating from a purpose-built 1,300 square meter headquarters. Located at Družstevná 39 in Prešov, CANOR combines exceptional engineering with immersive sound quality, specializing in high-end tube audio equipment including amplifiers, preamplifiers, CD players, and phono stages. The company has developed proprietary technologies including exclusive BT-1, TTM-1, and Aladdin measuring devices for tube selection and measurement. Their product portfolio spans vacuum tube-based and solid-state amplifiers from Class-D to Class-A designs. CANOR has received multiple international awards including the Stereo Sound Grand Prix 2023 for their Virtus M1 power amplifier, Analog Grand Prix 2023 Gold Award for the PH 1.10 phono preamplifier, and EnjoyTheMusic.com's Best Of 2022 Blue Note Award for their DAC 2.10. In addition to their own brand, they provide contract manufacturing for other global audio brands, leveraging advanced manufacturing technologies including in-house shielded measuring rooms for EMC and radio tests. For their 30th anniversary in 2025, CANOR is releasing a limited 1:1 replica of the original Edgar TP 101.
