The Kenwood DM-5090 is a Mini Disk (MD) recorder developed with Kenwood's proprietary digital technology known as D.R.I.V.E. It features a 20-bit D/A and A/D converter designed for accurate reproduction of minute signal regions. The D.R.I.V.E. system allows for the faithful processing of low-level signals that often suffer distortion in digital processing, ensuring the resulting audio closely resembles the original signal. The device utilizes ATRAC ver 4.5 (Adaptive Transform Acoustic Coding) for audio compression, providing improved micro-level reproduction and a broader dynamic range compared to earlier versions. A sampling rate converter enables support for various sampling frequencies, allowing 32 kHz and 48 kHz sources to be automatically converted to 44.1 kHz for digital recording via SCMS method. The DM-5090 can interface with CS/BS tuners or DAT decks for direct digital recording of broadcasts. It includes unique features like Quick Erase and Quick Move for easier editing, alongside standard editing functions such as track combine and track divide. Enhanced title input is facilitated through optional accessories, and a multi-jog dial offers user-friendly operation. The device is equipped with a remote control for direct title input, ensuring convenience during use.
