AC/DC fans have something electrifying to look forward to. The legendary rock band is being honored by the UK's Royal Mail with a special set of stamps, marking the 50th anniversary of their debut album, High Voltage, released in 1975. The collection is set to go on sale on February 18 and is currently available for pre-order.
The stamp series features eight images capturing AC/DC's dynamic live performances from various stages of their storied career. In addition to these live shots, four stamps spotlight some of the band's most iconic album covers: High Voltage, Highway to Hell, Back in Black, and Power Up. This homage not only celebrates their groundbreaking music but also their significant impact on the world of rock.
David Gold, Director of External Affairs and Policy at Royal Mail, highlighted AC/DC's monumental influence, noting that they've recorded some of the best-known rock anthems and produced Back in Black, one of the biggest-selling rock albums of all time. He emphasized that the stamps capture the essence of their electrifying performances and their substantial contribution to rock music.
AC/DC joins an exclusive club of legendary bands honored with Royal Mail stamps, including The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Queen, The Rolling Stones, Iron Maiden, and The Who. This recognition solidifies their status as one of the most successful rock bands globally.
Fans can pre-order the AC/DC stamp collection ahead of the general release on Tuesday, February 18.
In related news, reports suggest that AC/DC is strongly tipped for stadium dates in the last quarter of 2025 as part of their Power Up tour. This would coincide with the 10th anniversary of their last tour in Australia during the Rock or Bust world tour in 2015. That tour was notable for featuring drummer Phil Rudd's return since 1994 and Stevie Young on rhythm guitar, stepping in for his uncle Malcolm Young.
Since the conclusion of that tour in 2016, AC/DC has had a relatively low touring profile, returning to the stage with limited shows since 2023. The band's plans for 2025 include a return to the US and Canada, with dates scheduled through May. Notably, Phil Rudd and bassist Cliff Williams have been absent from recent tours, replaced by Matt Laug and Chris Chaney, respectively.
With these upcoming releases and potential tour dates, AC/DC continues to energize fans worldwide, reinforcing their legacy in rock history.
