Apple Unveils Vision Pro 2 VR Headset with Enhanced Comfort and Performance

14 April 2025 by Mike Danyk

Apple is set to unveil the Apple Vision Pro 2, introducing significant enhancements over its predecessor. One of the most notable improvements is the reduction in weight, bringing the headset down to approximately 650 grams compared to the original 1.5 kilograms. This lighter design is expected to enhance user comfort, especially during extended use, addressing a common concern among early adopters.

In addition to the weight reduction, Apple is developing a specialized version of the Vision Pro 2 that offers a wired connection to personal computers. This variant is designed to achieve ultra-low latency, making it ideal for high-performance applications. Professionals in fields such as medical imaging and aviation simulations will benefit from the minimal delay, which is critical for tasks that require real-time precision and responsiveness.

The Vision Pro 2 is also anticipated to be more affordable than its predecessor, which was priced around 4,000 Euros and struggled in the market. By leveraging the increased performance capabilities of the new Apple M5 chip and optimizing the hardware design, Apple aims to make the Vision Pro 2 more accessible to a broader audience without compromising on quality or functionality.

Technical advancements include the use of a high-resolution display and enhanced processing power, ensuring a seamless mixed-reality experience. The wired version, in particular, will not include an integrated battery, allowing it to rely on the power from connected Macs. This setup not only reduces the overall weight but also leverages the robust performance of Mac systems to deliver a superior user experience with reduced latency.

Looking ahead, Apple remains committed to advancing augmented reality technology. The Vision Pro 2 represents a strategic step towards creating a more refined and user-friendly mixed-reality headset, with plans for even more lightweight and wearable AR glasses in the future. These developments highlight Apple's dedication to innovation and meeting the evolving needs of both consumers and professional users.
