Audionet, the esteemed German audio equipment manufacturer, has expanded its Scientist series with the introduction of the Mach preamplifier and Schrödinger monoblock power amplifiers. Building on the legacy of the brand’s flagship models, Heisenberg and Stern, these new components deliver the same high level of technical excellence and superior sound quality while offering a more accessible price point.
The Mach and Schrödinger models have been meticulously engineered from the ground up, preserving the DNA of their predecessors and integrating Audionet’s patented floating panel construction. This innovative design isolates the chassis panels to minimize unwanted resonances and distortions caused by vibrations, ensuring a clean audio signal. Hartmut Esslinger's industrial aesthetic remains a cornerstone of the design, giving the new units a striking yet refined appearance that complements any high-fidelity setup.
Technically, the Mach preamplifier employs a dual-mono topology to achieve exceptional channel separation. Enhanced operational amplifier modules from the Stern model are combined with modern mica capacitors to deliver an uncolored and transparent sound. Volume control is managed through a precision resistor matrix controlled by electronic switches and an optical sensor system. The constant current design eliminates capacitors and inductors from the signal path, allowing for uninterrupted pure sound transmission. The power supply features a capacitor bank with a total capacity of 176,000 µF, utilizing low-impedance capacitors and silk dielectric for maximum stability and superior smoothing performance.
The Schrödinger monoblocks are equally impressive, offering complete channel separation through individual enclosures and power sources. These amplifiers incorporate Audionet’s patented ultra-linear amplifier (ULA) technology, optimized for magnetic and capacitive parameters without the use of ferromagnetic materials. This design ensures unparalleled accuracy and musicality. The power supply is anchored by two sealed toroidal transformers rated at 1200 VA each, complemented by a capacitor bank with a capacity of 160,000 µF. With a nominal output of 400 W into 8 Ω, 750 W into 4 Ω, and an impressive 1,200 W into 2 Ω, coupled with a damping factor exceeding 10,000 at 100 Hz, the Schrödinger provides exceptional control and dynamic range for any acoustic system.
The Mach preamplifier is set at a recommended retail price of $30,000, while a pair of Schrödinger monoblocks is priced at $58,000, though exact prices may vary by region. These new additions mark a significant advancement in Audionet’s mission to deliver high-end audio solutions that balance performance with accessibility.
