Betty Boo's 'Boomania' and 'GRRR! It's Betty Boo' Set for Reissue in March
After making waves with her feature on The Beatmasters' "Hey DJ – I Can’t Dance (To That Music You’re Playing)", Betty Boo, born Alison Clarkson, released her debut album Boomania in September 1990. The album climbed to number four on the UK charts and delivered three top-ten singles, including the catchy "Where Are You Baby?" which peaked at number three.
In 1992, she followed up with GRRR! It's Betty Boo, though it didn't quite match the commercial success of its predecessor. It did, however, produce the UK hit "Let Me Take You There". After this, Betty stepped back from the limelight, not releasing another studio album until 2022's Boomerang.
Now, fans have reason to celebrate as both Boomania and GRRR! It's Betty Boo are set for reissue. Available as 2CD deluxe sets in clamshell boxes, colored vinyl, and cassettes, these reissues offer a fresh take on her classic work. The new 2CD editions feature revamped second discs with different mixes and versions compared to previous releases. For instance, the Boomania deluxe omits the 12-inch version of "Boo’s Boogie" and includes alternate mixes of "Doin’ The Do", "Where Are You Baby", and "Hey DJ", such as a club mix by Clivilles and Cole. Similarly, the GRRR! It's Betty Boo reissue boasts different mixes from the 2016 version for nearly every track, except for the twelve-inch version of "Jet Set".
The vinyl editions come pressed on magenta (Boomania) and green (GRRR! It's Betty Boo) vinyl, staying true to the original tracklists without bonus tracks. Cassette versions mirror this approach.
For those looking to add a personal touch to their collection, signed editions are available directly from the official Betty Boo shop, without the need to purchase bundles.
Boomania and GRRR! It's Betty Boo will be released on 28 March 2025 via Betty Boo Records.
