Børresen Launches C2 and C3 Loudspeakers with Advanced Technology

9 February 2025 by Mike Danyk

Recently, the Danish brand Børresen, part of Audio Group Denmark, unveiled their latest offerings in the C-series: the Børresen C2 and C3 loudspeakers. These floor-standing models aim to bridge the gap between the O-series and X-series, bringing advanced driver technology and meticulous cabinet construction to audiophiles seeking a balance of power and precision.

Both the C2 and C3 feature the Børresen DCC5 Neo bass/midrange driver. This driver incorporates a neodymium magnet system with dual copper caps designed to minimize electromagnetic resonance and inductance. The use of a three-layer membrane structure—an aramid honeycomb core sandwiched between carbon fiber skins—significantly reduces vibrations and resonances, resulting in cleaner and more detailed sound reproduction.

Handling the high frequencies is the Børresen RP94 ribbon planar tweeter. With a sensitivity of 94 dB and an ultra-light moving mass of just 0.01 grams, this tweeter delivers exceptionally detailed and airy highs. The cryogenic treatment applied to the tweeter's components enhances conductivity and lowers inductance, further refining the overall sound quality.

The crossover network in these speakers is designed to support bi-wiring and bi-amping configurations, allowing for more precise power distribution and improved clarity. Additionally, the C2 and C3 are compatible with Aavik active crossovers, which can elevate the listening experience even further.

The cabinets are constructed from a combination of reinforced wood composite and carbon fiber panels. This blend optimizes structural integrity and reduces unwanted resonances. Inside, 5mm thick wooden braces minimize distortions and standing waves. The semi-open chamber design for the midrange drivers enhances decompression, contributing to a wider and more immersive soundstage.

Incorporated into the design are key technologies from Ansuz, another brand within Audio Group Denmark. These include Tesla coil technology for noise reduction and the third-generation Ansuz Dither technology, which lowers the noise floor. High-conductivity Ansuz wiring is used throughout to ensure signal purity.

The Børresen C2 stands at 1,135 mm tall, while the larger C3 reaches 1,415 mm. Both models have a sensitivity of 88 dB and a nominal impedance of around 6 Ohms, making them suitable for amplifiers rated at 50 watts or more. The frequency response extends up to 50 kHz, with the C2 reaching down to 35 Hz and the C3 down to 25 Hz.

Available in high-gloss black or white piano lacquer finishes, the Børresen C2 and C3 are now on sale in Europe. The recommended retail price for the C2 model is €25,000 per pair, while the C3 is priced at €35,000 per pair.
