Elton John and Brandi Carlile have joined forces to announce a new studio album, "Who Believes in Angels?", set to release on April 4, 2025, via EMI Island. This collaboration marks Elton's 33rd and Carlile's eighth studio album, promising a blend of their distinct musical styles.
The album features a mix of songs led by Elton and Brandi, with lyrics contributed by longtime collaborator Bernie Taupin and Carlile herself. Produced by Andrew Watt, the project brings together an impressive lineup of musicians, including drummer Chad Smith from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, bassist Pino Palladino, and guitarist Josh Klinghoffer.
Elton reflected on the journey of creating this album: “This record was one of the toughest I’ve ever made, but it was also one of the greatest musical experiences of my life. It has given me a place where I know I can move forward. 'Who Believes In Angels?' feels like going into another era and I’m pushing the door open to come into the future."
The tracklist hints at tributes to musical legends, with titles like "The Rose Of Laura Nyro" and "Little Richard’s Bible", showcasing their influences and paying homage to artists who have shaped their careers. The Oscar-nominated song "Never Too Late" also features on the album, adding to its depth and diversity.
Collectors will be interested in the CD+DVD clamshell collector’s box set, which includes the album, a behind-the-scenes DVD featuring an exclusive bonus track titled "Lord Let Me", prints, and iron-on patches. Vinyl enthusiasts can look forward to the tri-coloured gatefold pressing that comes with a booklet, with various colored exclusives available through different retailers.
