Modular speaker system featuring customizable blocks for tailored audio setups.
OKHO full-range speaker uses a single 30.5 cm wideband driver for natural, distortion-free sound.
Enhanced BOB MkII modules offer improved power handling, sensitivity, and frequency response.
Closer Acoustics, a renowned Polish company based in Katowice, has unveiled its latest innovation in the realm of high-fidelity audio—the Blocks Speaker System. This modular acoustic solution allows audiophiles to tailor their sound setup by combining various blocks, much like assembling with bricks. The Blocks system builds upon the compact OGY monitor, which features a 10 cm wideband driver (8 Ω, 15 W, 91 dB sensitivity) housed in a transmission line cabinet paired with Bass Open Baffle (BOB) modules.
A standout component of the Blocks system is the OKHO full-range speaker, equipped with a 30.5 cm wideband EMS driver previously featured in the flagship Vigo model. The OKHO is designed in an open U-shaped enclosure, delivering a high sensitivity of 97.5 dB and a resonance frequency of 34 Hz, making it ideal for open partition setups. Unlike traditional multi-driver speakers that rely on crossovers and may introduce phase distortions, the OKHO ensures a cohesive and natural soundstage with a single driver per module.
Enhancements in the Blocks lineup include the BOB MkII modules, which offer improved performance with an 8 Ω impedance, 100 W power handling, and 94 dB sensitivity. These modules feature open-front designs to eliminate unwanted hum and provide a frequency response from 40 Hz to 200 Hz. Connectivity is streamlined with pure copper speaker terminals compatible with banana plugs, spade connectors, and bare wire, complemented by internal Cardas pure copper wiring of 9.5 AWG. Additionally, the introduction of the Blank module allows users to adjust the speaker height for optimal listening ergonomics.
The Blocks system is supported by ISO Acoustics GAIA II anti-vibration feet, further enhancing sound quality by stabilizing the setup. Closer Acoustics offers several configuration options to suit different room sizes and audio preferences, with retail prices in Europe starting from €743 for the Blank modules to €2,892 for the OKHO pairs. Comprehensive setups range from compact arrangements for small rooms to extensive configurations for larger spaces, ensuring flexibility and scalability for audiophiles seeking a personalized listening experience.
With its emphasis on modularity, technical excellence, and customizable configurations, the Closer Acoustics Blocks Speaker System represents a significant advancement in high-fidelity audio design. This innovative approach allows enthusiasts to craft a sound system that precisely matches their acoustic environment and personal taste, underscoring Closer Acoustics' commitment to delivering exceptional audio performance.
