Jadis Introduces JS5 and JS2 SL Vacuum Tube DACs, Elevating Premium Audio Standards

28 March 2025 by Mike Danyk

Jadis reaffirms its commitment to high-fidelity audio with the introduction of the JS5 and JS2 SL vacuum tube DACs, challenging the ongoing trend of increasingly affordable digital-to-analog converters. As the market sees a surge in budget-friendly DAC options, often prioritized for compatibility and hi-res codec support, Jadis stands out by emphasizing superior sound quality and meticulous engineering.

The JS5 serves as the flagship model, featuring a two-chassis design that separates processing and power supply units to optimize performance. It incorporates four dual triode vacuum tubes in the signal path and utilizes an 8-channel Sabre ES9038PRO 32-bit DAC with Hyperstream technology. Custom-wound transformers, crafted in-house since 1983, ensure precise values tailored for each application, minimizing noise and maximizing headroom. With multiple digital inputs and both balanced and single-ended outputs, the JS5 caters to discerning audiophiles seeking uncompromised audio fidelity.

In contrast, the JS2 SL offers a more compact single-chassis solution without compromising on performance. It retains the essential features of the JS5, including the use of four dual triodes and the ES9038PRO DAC chips. The internal separation of processing and power supply stages, along with premium point-to-point wiring selected through extensive listening tests, ensures clarity and reduces crosstalk. Despite its streamlined form, the JS2 SL delivers a rich, vivid soundscape that rivals its higher-priced counterpart.

Both models boast the signature Jadis craftsmanship, featuring chrome-plated stainless steel chassis, gold-plated knobs, and meticulously finished transformer covers. The emphasis on high-quality components and innovative design reflects Jadis's dedication to providing a musical experience that captures the essence of live performances with exceptional resolution and tonal accuracy.

Priced at $18,300 for the JS5 and $13,900 for the JS2 SL in the US market, these DACs are available through dealers carrying Bluebird Music distributed products. While the affordability of DACs continues to grow, Jadis's offerings cater to audiophiles who prioritize ultimate sound quality and are willing to invest in premium digital-to-analog conversion technology.
