Mike + The Mechanics have announced a new compilation, “Looking Back – Living The Years,” set for release on CD on 14 March 2025, followed by a double vinyl LP on 4 April. The collection spans 40 years and gathers tracks from seven of the band’s nine studio albums, leaving out material from the 1999 and 2004 eras. It spotlights every vocalist who has fronted Mike + The Mechanics, including Paul Young, Paul Carrack, Andrew Roachford, and Tim Howar.
This release corrals renowned singles like “Silent Running,” “All I Need Is A Miracle” (in its ’96 variant), “The Living Years,” and “Over My Shoulder,” focusing on the group’s layered studio work and melodic craft. Fans of detailed production can anticipate a presentation that captures a balanced sonic landscape, with care given to preserving the warm tonal balance these tracks have always been known for.
A 2LP+CD bundle will be available for those who prefer a tangible experience, and it comes with a signed print. Concord is overseeing the release, suggesting a high level of attention to audio fidelity.
