Opera Audio, the renowned Italian loudspeaker manufacturer, has unveiled upgraded versions of its Prima and Quinta models. Now bearing the "V2" designation, these speakers incorporate significant optical and technical enhancements that promise to elevate the listening experience.
The Opera Prima V2 is a compact two-way monitor speaker that has undergone substantial revisions. Departing from the asymmetrical driver arrangement of its predecessor, the Prima V2 now features a symmetrical layout with both drivers mounted on-axis. The bass reflex port has been relocated to the rear, contributing to a cleaner front aesthetic and potentially improved bass response.
At the heart of the Prima V2 is a 180mm aluminum cone woofer/midrange driver powered by a ferrite magnet, delivering robust and precise lower frequencies. Above 2.5 kHz, a soft dome tweeter equipped with a dual ferrite magnet takes over, ensuring smooth and detailed highs. The sensitivity is rated at 90 dB (1 Watt/1 meter), slightly lower than the previous model's 91 dB. Notably, the cabinet has been significantly upgraded, resulting in a substantial weight increase from 9.5 kg to 14 kg, which may contribute to better resonance control and overall sound quality.
For those seeking a more commanding presence, the Opera Quinta V2 is a three-way floorstanding loudspeaker that has seen major updates, particularly in driver configuration. This revised model features two parallel 180mm woofers positioned at the lower section of the front baffle for bass reproduction. A 150mm midrange driver, starting from 250 Hz, is situated above the woofers, and a 26mm soft dome tweeter joins in at 2.3 kHz at the top. This arrangement aims to optimize acoustic performance and enhance the speaker's elegant profile.
The Quinta V2 boasts a sensitivity of 91 dB (1 Watt/1 meter), making it suitable for use with amplifiers that don't require excessive power. Its bass extends down to 42 Hz at a -3 dB point, ensuring a deep and articulate low-frequency response.
Both models are equipped with single wiring terminals and are available in two exquisite finishes: mottled grey and walnut. Pricing places the Opera Prima V2 at approximately $2,899, while the Opera Quinta V2 comes in just under $6,000.
These upgrades from Opera Audio reflect a commitment to blending Italian craftsmanship with audiophile-grade performance, offering both aesthetic appeal and sonic excellence.
