Orbital is set to delight audiophiles with the super deluxe reissue of their seminal second album, The Brown Album. Scheduled for release in May via London Records, the reissue is available in multiple formats including a 4CD box set, a 4LP vinyl collection, a 2LP edition in various colors, a 2CD version, cassette, and digital download.
The 4CD edition stands out with its comprehensive collection of 32 tracks, encompassing the original album alongside bonus material from the Radiccio, Lush, and The Peel Sessions EPs released in the early '90s. Additionally, it features a live performance from New York in December 1992 and the exclusive "Impact USA" track from the US-only Diversions EP. This set is housed in a robust 12″ box, accompanied by two A6 flyers, two stickers, and a hardback book containing unseen photos, a detailed track-by-track analysis by Orbital, and insightful essays by esteemed music journalist Andrew Harrison.
For vinyl enthusiasts, the 4LP set offers 21 tracks, including live performances and extended takes, all meticulously remastered at half-speed by Dave Turner to preserve the original master’s high dynamic range (DR13). This attention to detail ensures enhanced clarity and punch, maintaining the integrity of Orbital's pioneering electronic sound. The vinyl package also includes a slipmat, further catering to the dedicated collector.
The reissue does not stop at deluxe box sets; a more streamlined 2LP version is available in black, double color, and Galaxy Brown, featuring the album's original tracks. Additionally, Limited Edition 12″ Drops provide fans with the Radiccio, Lush, and Peel Sessions tracks on vinyl, complete with new artwork. These editions highlight Orbital's commitment to delivering high-fidelity audio experiences that honor their influential legacy.
With its meticulous remastering and extensive bonus content, the Brown Album reissue caters to both longtime fans and new listeners seeking to explore Orbital's groundbreaking work. This release reaffirms Orbital's enduring impact on the electronic music landscape, offering a rich, immersive listening experience across all available formats.
