Paramount+ is set to elevate its streaming experience in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland starting March 26, 2025, with the introduction of its Premium subscription tier. This new plan brings significant enhancements, including 4K Ultra HD resolution, HDR10 and Dolby Vision for superior picture quality, and Dolby Atmos for an immersive audio experience. Subscribers opting for Premium will benefit from up to four simultaneous streams, an increase from the two offered in the standard package, along with the ability to download content for offline viewing. The Premium tier is priced at €12.99 per month in Germany and Austria, and CHF17.90 in Switzerland, up from €7.99 for the standard subscription.
In addition to the Premium option, Paramount+ is launching an ad-supported Basic tier this summer. Priced at €5.99 per month in Germany and Austria and CHF7.90 in Switzerland, this plan caters to users seeking a more affordable option. While it allows streaming on a single device and offers Full HD resolution, the Basic tier does not support downloads and includes advertisements. This tier maintains the standard audio quality with stereo sound and is limited to one concurrent stream.
Despite the introduction of these enhanced subscription options, it's important to note that not all content on Paramount+ will be available in 4K, HDR10, Dolby Vision, or Dolby Atmos. The availability of high-definition features depends on whether specific films or series are provided in those formats. This approach aligns with industry standards seen across other streaming platforms such as Disney+, Netflix, and Prime Video.
Paramount+ continues to offer a robust library of content, including popular franchises like Star Trek, SpongeBob SquarePants, Mission: Impossible, Top Gun, and Transformers. The expansion into higher quality streaming tiers underscores Paramount+'s commitment to delivering premium viewing experiences to its audience in the DACH region.
Looking ahead, Paramount+ plans to roll out the Basic ad-supported tier alongside the Premium subscription, providing consumers with flexible options to suit their viewing preferences and budgets. This strategic move aims to cater to a broader audience, enhancing accessibility while maintaining high standards for those seeking top-tier streaming quality.
