Shanling is set to make a notable entry into the U.S. audio market with the debut of the EH2 Desktop DAC/Headphone Amplifier at CanJam NYC 2025. Building on the positive reception of previous offerings like the CR60 CD Transport and SM1.3 Streamer, the EH2 aims to deliver exceptional performance without breaking the bank. Priced at $399, this sleek and compact unit promises power and sonic detail typically found in higher-end models.
Engineered in-house by Shanling’s dedicated team, the EH2 boasts a 24-bit R2R DAC, continuing the legacy of high-performance devices based on the Burr Brown PCM1704 DAC. Its robust power output ensures compatibility with a wide range of headphones, delivering up to 24.3W @ 32 ohms through the 4.4mm balanced output and 1.3W @ 32 ohms via the single-ended 6.35mm output. Additionally, the EH2 features an OPA1612-based RCA & 4.4mm Line-out/Pre-out circuit, providing low noise and distortion for seamless integration with active speakers and power amplifiers.
Connectivity is a standout feature of the EH2, which includes the XMOS XU316 module for USB input and the Qualcomm QCC5125 chip supporting Bluetooth 5.2. This ensures compatibility with high-resolution LDAC and aptX codecs, alongside digital optical and coaxial audio inputs. Front-facing controls for volume, tone, gain, and source selection enhance user flexibility, while dual headphone outputs cater to different listener preferences.
In comparison to its predecessor, the EH1, the EH2 offers expanded connectivity options and improved technical specifications. With a frequency response of 20Hz-40kHz and ultra-low total harmonic distortion, the EH2 delivers a clean and dynamic audio experience. The enhanced dynamic range and signal-to-noise ratio further solidify its position as a competitive choice in the desktop DAC/headphone amplifier market.
