Sphinx Returns: High-End Audio Legacy Revived with the Element Series

10 May 2025 by Mike Danyk

Sphinx resurges with a captivating return to the high-end audio market at the upcoming High End Show 2025 in Munich, taking place from May 15 to 18. Once celebrated in the late 20th century, the brand reinvigorates its legacy with the introduction of the Element series, featuring the Element 3 and Element 5 loudspeakers. These new models are a testament to advanced engineering and innovative design, promising to meet the discerning tastes of audiophiles.

The Element 3 showcases Sphinx’s proprietary Zero Gravity Bass technology, designed to minimize distortion through an expertly crafted cabinet structure. This results in a natural and seamless sound reproduction with deep bass response and swift transient reaction. Complementing this is the Passive Active Crossover (PAC) system, which ensures precise phase alignment and optimal signal flow between drivers. The inclusion of silver and gold internal cabling further enhances the speaker’s performance, providing unmatched clarity and control.

Drawing on the rich heritage of International Audio Holding’s brands, the Element series incorporates elements from Siltech’s Symphony and Crystal Cable’s Minissimo Forte. The Element 3 features a beautifully sculpted cabinet inspired by the elegant curves of a harp, utilizing dampened stone-like panels to mitigate vibrational distortions. Mounted on a curved aluminum base, the speaker not only achieves stability but also improves heat dissipation, contributing to overall durability and performance. The top baffle is meticulously designed for excellent sound dispersion, ensuring an immersive listening experience.

Technical specifications highlight the Element 3’s impressive frequency response of 23 Hz to 38 kHz and an efficiency rating of 94 dB at 2.83V for 16-ohm impedance. The speaker is versatile with a bass attenuation switch offering -3 dB, 0 dB, and +3 dB settings, allowing users to tailor the bass output to their room acoustics. Recommended amplification includes 50 watts for solid-state and 40 watts for valve amplifiers, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of audio systems.

Looking ahead, Sphinx plans to expand the Element line into a comprehensive ecosystem of high-fidelity audio equipment, leveraging the technical expertise of Siltech and Crystal Cable. The Element 5 will follow, building upon the foundations laid by its predecessor with larger dimensions and enhanced performance capabilities. Audiophiles attending the High End Show Munich 2025 will have the opportunity to experience the Element series firsthand, marking a significant milestone in Sphinx’s renaissance.
