Suede's Sci-Fi Lullabies Reissue: Expanding the Music Legacy

25 March 2025 by Mike Danyk

Suede’s seminal B-sides compilation, Sci-Fi Lullabies, is set for a highly anticipated reissue this May. The expanded 3CD set not only includes the original 27 tracks spanning from their first three albums—Suede (1993), Dog Man Star (1994), and Coming Up (1996)—but also introduces 19 additional B-sides and extra tracks recorded between 1999 and 2023. Notably, tracks like ‘Blinded’ and ‘Manipulation’ make their first-ever appearance on CD, offering a fresh listening experience for longtime fans.

The reissue has been meticulously remastered by Phil Kinrade at AIR Studios, ensuring that the sonic quality meets the high standards expected by audiophiles. The 3CD set is housed in a die-cut sleeve, allowing enthusiasts to easily switch between the original and the new Sci-Fi Lullabies: Vol 2 covers. This thoughtful design caters to collectors who appreciate both the aesthetic and functional aspects of their physical media.

Vinyl aficionados will be pleased with the multiple vinyl editions available. The original Sci-Fi Lullabies is reissued as a 3LP set, now titled Vol 1, and comes in three distinct versions. A black half-speed mastered edition pressed on 180g vinyl promises exceptional sound fidelity, while the 140g grey vinyl edition offers a unique visual appeal. Additionally, a limited 3LP picture disc version, restricted to 1000 units, will be available exclusively through the band’s shop, catering to those who seek both quality and rarity.

This comprehensive reissue not only celebrates Suede’s legacy but also bridges their classic sound with contemporary releases. Released on 23 May 2025 via Edsel and Demon Records, the new editions reaffirm Sci-Fi Lullabies as an essential collection for fans and collectors alike, showcasing the band’s enduring influence in the Britpop landscape.
