Swan Song Audio has unveiled the second generation of its renowned omnidirectional loudspeaker, the Omnidirectional Speaker V2. Building on their commitment to wide-dispersion sound, the latest iteration delivers what the company describes as a “clear wide wall of sound,” effectively filling the room with rich, transparent audio.
The Omnidirectional Speaker V2 employs a hybrid construction to enhance damping and minimize tonal coloration. The cabinet is meticulously 3D-printed using PLA, a biodegradable polymer, and is further damped with flexible TPU. To ensure additional rigidity, ABS plastic bracing is incorporated into the top and bottom panels of the enclosure. This thoughtful design results in a speaker that not only looks distinctive but also performs with exceptional precision.
With a rated sensitivity of 94dB, the Speaker V2 is optimized for low-powered valve amplifiers, ensuring efficient energy transfer and allowing even modest amplifiers to achieve impressive output levels. The internal signal path is crafted with high-quality components, including Argentium silver wiring and pure copper connectors. The crossover network features Mundorf inductors and silver-coated capacitors, carefully balanced to maintain signal transparency and reduce distortion. Equipped with Faital Pro drivers—a 12-inch woofer and a 2-inch compression horn—the speakers deliver a robust and detailed soundscape.
In practical listening environments, the Omnidirectional Speaker V2 demonstrates strong low-end performance, with in-room measurements indicating a -3dB point at 35Hz. This substantial bass response eliminates the typical need for a separate subwoofer in most listening spaces. Each unit weighs approximately 28 kilograms, reflecting the solid build quality and advanced engineering behind the design.
Production of the Omnidirectional Speaker V2 is a labor-intensive process, with each pair requiring 1,150 hours of 3D printing across two printers, equivalent to 42 days of continuous operation. While Swan Song Audio plans to expand its manufacturing capabilities in the coming months, availability will remain limited. Buyers have the option to customize the color and design of their speakers, allowing for personalized integration into diverse audio setups.
