Takumi 2.1DC Vinyl Record Player: A Pinnacle of Audiophile Playback

15 May 2025 by Mike Danyk

The High End Show 2025 in Munich introduced the Takumi 2.1DC vinyl record player, a refined addition to the audiophile market. Designed by Rik Stoet, the Takumi 2.1DC features a precision-machined acrylic chassis, selected for its excellent vibration damping and acoustic neutrality. This ensures stable, silent playback by minimizing external resonances, a critical aspect for discerning listeners.

At the heart of the Takumi 2.1DC lies a passivated drive system equipped with a low-noise DC motor housed in a damped enclosure, isolated from the main platter to prevent vibration transfer. Speed accuracy is maintained through a Hall effect sensor and a magnetic ring, allowing real-time control. The external SpeedPod controller offers seamless switching between 33.33 and 45 RPM, with ultra-fine adjustments in 0.01 RPM increments, catering to both vintage records and precise tuning requirements.

A standout feature of the Takumi 2.1DC is its mechanically silent platter system. The unit incorporates a monolithic aluminum sub-platter, ceramic axle, and brass bearing, ensuring friction-free rotation. The acrylic platter makes direct contact with the vinyl, eliminating the need for a mat and preserving the pure sound integrity of each record. The titanium tonearm, with its lightweight yet rigid construction, includes a non-detachable shell to minimize connection losses. The arm's full-cardan suspension allows smooth, low-friction movement, while adjustable VTA, azimuth, and anti-skate settings provide compatibility with a wide range of cartridges.

Ease of setup is facilitated by three adjustable feet with internal dampening and a built-in spirit level, allowing precise leveling and isolation from ambient vibrations. The Takumi 2.1DC comes complete with a 1.2-meter high-quality phono cable and the Audio-Technica AT3600L cartridge, enabling immediate high-fidelity playback upon installation. Priced at €1,695 in Europe, the Takumi 2.1DC represents a blend of craftsmanship and advanced engineering, aimed at delivering exceptional audio performance for vinyl enthusiasts.

Rik Stoet’s dedication to meticulous design and superior sound quality is evident in every aspect of the Takumi 2.1DC. Building on a legacy of high-quality audio equipment, this turntable embodies both aesthetic elegance and technical prowess, offering vinyl aficionados a sophisticated platform to experience their collections with unparalleled clarity and warmth.
