Velodyne Acoustics Expands MiniVee X Lineup with New Finishes

5 February 2025 by Mike Danyk

So, Velodyne Acoustics has expanded its MiniVee X subwoofer lineup, and it's pretty exciting news for anyone serious about their audio setup. The MiniVee X, which was previously only available in a high-gloss black finish, now comes in a sleek high-gloss white. But the real head-turner is the special limited edition with a transparent acrylic housing. Imagine being able to see the inner workings of your subwoofer as it delivers those deep bass notes!

Despite its compact size—measuring just 30 x 29 x 29 cm and weighing in at 15 kg—the MiniVee X doesn't compromise on performance. It's equipped with an 8-inch long-throw driver featuring a 2-inch voice coil and a dual ferrite magnet system. Paired with an equally sized passive radiator, this setup ensures that even in a small form factor, you're getting rich, dynamic, and precise bass.

The subwoofer packs a punch with its Class D amplifier, delivering 350 watts of continuous power and peaking up to 800 watts. Plus, with DSP processing and the ability to auto-calibrate to your room's acoustics via the Velodyne Acoustics Auto EQ app and included measurement microphone, you're set for an optimized listening experience without the hassle.

Connectivity won't be an issue either. The MiniVee X offers balanced and unbalanced low-level inputs and outputs, along with high-level inputs. This makes it versatile enough to integrate seamlessly into both stereo systems and home theater setups.

Now, about that pricing and availability. The high-gloss white version is available immediately through authorized dealers, and it holds the same price tag as the black model at €999. Details on the transparent acrylic edition are still under wraps, including its release date and pricing. But given it's a limited edition, you might want to keep an eye out if you're interested.

All in all, the new finishes give the MiniVee X a fresh aesthetic appeal, whether you're looking to match your décor with the white lacquer or make a statement with the transparent acrylic design. It's always great to see companies offering more options without skimping on the technical prowess that audiophiles appreciate.
