Wharfedale introduces the Evo 5 series at High End 2025, delivering high-end audio performance at accessible prices. The new lineup includes five distinct models: Evo 5.1 and 5.C as two-way speakers, Evo 5.2 as a three-way box, and Evo 5.3 and 5.4 as three-way floorstanders. Each model features redesigned cabinets with SilentWeave material to reduce soundwave reflections and the innovative ResoFrame for enhanced acoustic damping, ensuring cleaner and more accurate sound reproduction.
A significant upgrade in the Evo 5 series is the enlarged AMT tweeters, now measuring 35x70mm compared to the Evo 4's 30x60mm. This enhancement improves efficiency and horizontal dispersion, resulting in clearer and more detailed highs. The midrange drivers have also been refined with a new ResoFrame and SilentWeave integration, providing a more natural and seamless transition between frequencies. These advancements contribute to a more immersive listening experience, particularly in the midrange where vocal clarity is paramount.
Bass performance receives a notable boost with the revised SLPP (Slot Loaded Profiled Port) design, venting in three directions to optimize airflow and deliver deeper, fuller bass. The cabinet construction utilizes multiple wood layers and a hybrid metal/wood plinth, increasing cabinet volume for enhanced low-frequency response. This design not only improves bass depth but also contributes to a more expansive and immersive soundstage, suitable for both music and home cinema applications.
Available in walnut, matte black, white, and the new Lunar Grey finishes, the Evo 5 series combines aesthetic versatility with superior acoustic engineering. Pricing ranges from €699 for the Evo 5.1 and Evo 5.C to €1,899 for the Evo 5.4, positioning the series as a compelling choice for audiophiles seeking high-quality sound without the premium price tag.
