Wilson Benesch Unveils Revolutionary Graviton Ti Tonearm at Munich High-End Audio Fair

13 May 2025 by Mike Danyk

British manufacturer Wilson Benesch is set to unveil its latest innovation, the Graviton Ti tonearm, at the upcoming High End audio trade fair in Munich. Building upon the esteemed GMT One System turntable, the Graviton Ti is meticulously engineered for compatibility with the Dohmann Helix One Mk3 turntable, offering audiophiles a remarkable addition to their high-fidelity setups.

Graviton Ti Tonearm

The Graviton Ti boasts a carbon fiber arm tube reinforced with a graphene-epoxy matrix, combining unidirectional carbon fiber with a Rohacell core and a quadruple helix layer. This composite construction ensures exceptional rigidity and damping, crucial for precise sound reproduction. These attributes allow the stylus to navigate record grooves with minimal interference, delivering clarity and depth that audiophiles seek.

Drawing from Wilson Benesch’s rich heritage in composite tonearm design dating back to the ACT One Tonearm of 1989, the Graviton Ti incorporates advanced principles such as hyperbolic tube geometry, monolithic construction, and optimized fiber orientation. Collaborations with academic institutions, including the EU-funded SSUCHY project, have validated these design choices, reinforcing the tonearm's performance capabilities.

In a groundbreaking collaboration with the University of Sheffield and the FEMTO Institute, Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) was employed to craft titanium components for the Graviton Ti. This method enabled the creation of intricate internal lattice structures inspired by natural geometries, achieving an outstanding strength-to-weight ratio and effective damping properties. The optimized center of gravity further enhances tracking precision by reducing vibrational energy.

Graviton Ti Details

The Graviton Ti is available in a standard matte titanium finish, with options for polished silver and gold finishes to cater to personalized aesthetic preferences. Priced at $40,000 for the matte version, additional finishes are available at extra cost. Orders are now open with initial shipments expected in the fourth quarter of 2025, marking a significant advancement in Wilson Benesch’s commitment to delivering superior audio performance through innovative engineering.
